We all deserve the highest care quality we can possibly get. Sometimes, however, we forget that as patients we have a duty to help our doctors elevate the care they deliver. These quick steps will help you get better care from your doctors.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make decisions about your care together with your doctor and other members of the health care team. Don't let them tell you what to do or not do without a discussion so you best understand what's going on.

  2. Step 2

Be sure to ask questions at all doctor visits.

  3. Step 3

Ask your doctor to explain the scientific evidence about your condition and treatment plans.

  4. Step 4

Do your homework. Go online or to the library to find out more information about your condition.

  5. Step 5

Find and use quality information in making health care choices. Be sure the information comes from a reliable source.
