QuickTime is the 800 pound gorilla for media files on Mac. For that reason, it’s important to know the ins and outs of using this application. Beginning and intermediate users have little to no use for the advanced options available in QuickTime, but there are scenarios where some users will need to do some complex configuration. There are a few things to know before setting up advanced QuickTime options in Mac.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Decide which advanced feature needs to be modified. The advanced settings options allow the user to change a variety of things from file format, security and default synthesizers. The user must be aware of all options before they may be used correctly.
Step2
Open the QuickTime player from the docking station or the Applications folder. The normal Mac set up allows for the QuickTime icon to be readily available.
Step3
Select "QuickTime Player," "QuickTime Preferences" and then the "Advanced" tab. Be sure to select the correct preferences option as there are two.
Step4
Choose from the advanced options available. In order to use the default synthesizer option, there has to be more than one synthesizer loaded on the computer. Transport set up is for users who need to set up a customized firewall configuration. This will more than likely be done with the help of a system administrator. "Enable kiosk" mode allows the user to manipulate movie settings. MIME settings determine the format in which QuickTime movies are viewable and Media Keys are used when viewing media with security settings. The settings should be given to the user whenever this type of movie is viewed.
