    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • 2 cups self raising flour
    • 2 1/2 tablespoons fresh butter
    • 2 Tablespoons powdered sugar
    • 3 Tablespoons, plus 1 Tablespoon milk, separated
    • 1/4 cup cold water
    • 1 cup raspberry jam
    • Baking sheet
    • Parchment paper
    • Large bowl
    • Wooden spoon
    • Rolling pin
      • 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

      • 2

Line the baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.

      • 3

Sift the flour over a large bowl. Add the butter. Create a breadcrumb-textured mixture by blending the butter and flour using your fingers.

      • 4

Slowly stir the powdered sugar into the bowl using a wooden spoon.

      • 5

Add milk and water to the bowl. Stir them into the flour mixture to form a soft dough that can be rolled out.

      • 6

Turn out dough on a floured surface and use a rolling pin to create a long rectangle large enough to fit the baking sheet.

      • 7

Roll up one side of the dough on a rolling pin, and gather to transfer to the baking sheet. Slowly unravel onto the baking sheet.

      • 8

Spread the entire surface of the dough with raspberry jam, leaving at least a half-inch on each side.

      • 9

Roll up dough lengthwise and place in the center of the baking pan.

      • 10

        Brush the dough with milk.

      • 11

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the cake turns a golden color and is cooked through the middle. It is fully cooked when a toothpick pricked in the center comes out clean.

      • 12

Let the cake stand to cool at least 10 minutes. Cut into thick slices to serve.

      • 13

Serve with custard and whipped cream.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Store in refrigerator for up to five days.

    • Serve with a few spoons of sweetened condensed milk for an even more sweet dessert.
