Things You'll Need:
- door
- two supports of equal height
-
Step 1
Find a door that is not being used in your house. I found one in our bathroom between the toilet area and the sink area. We took it down. You can also find inexpensive doors at hardware stores or home improvement stores.
-
Step 2
Find some supports for your desk. You could use two small file cabinets, which can be found at thrift stores for a low price, or two end tables, or two bedside tables. If you are not too picky they don't even have to match.
-
Step 3
Set the door on the supports and take a look. If you want to hide the lower parts you can put a sheet or blanket on top of the desk.
-
Step 4
Load it up with all of your necessities. Computers, printers, and papers will all fit nicely. There will even be a hole for your cords right in the middle of the door, where a doorknob would go.

on 11/24/2008 Habitat for Humanity Thrift store often has discarded doors, some like new, for this kind of project.

on 11/11/2008 Especially if you can find an old birch door. They stain out nice and match oak pretty well. Like the one in my office.
