How to to Install a New Computer Sound Card

Installation of a new sound card can be done at home. All it requires is one screwdriver, a sound card, a computer, and patience.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Shut the computer down using shut down option. Turn off computer and remove left side panel.

  2. Step 2

    Locate an empty white slot and remove the blank metal strip associated with this slot.

  3. Step 3

    Insert sound card and press firmly to ensure it is fully seated.

  4. Step 4

    Replace side panel and restart computer.

  5. Step 5

    Plug speakers into new sound card.

  6. Step 6

    Insert install CD in disk tray.

  7. Step 7

    Follow instructions for setup.

  • Before purchasing any cards for your computer, ensure that your equipment has the appropriate capabilities and slots.
  • Make sure power is turned off to the computer prior to starting this installation.
