Baby's seem delicate and have tiny little finger and toe nails that can be nerve-racking to cut. But even baby nails can scratch skin and eyes, so they need to be trimmed. These tips will help you safely cut your child's nails.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Never use adult nail clippers! Purchase specialty baby nail clippers, and as your child ages, continue buying clippers suited for his or her age group.

  2. Step 2

Start clipping nails when your baby is a newborn.

  3. Step 3

Clip fingernails at least once weekly.

  4. Step 4

Clip toenails two times a month.

  5. Step 5

Smooth jagged edges on your baby's fingernails with an emery board (non-metal nail file).
