Step 1
Enter a local Latina beauty pageant first. Often this is the first step that you will need to take if you want to eventually compete in larger competitions. Ask local Hispanic leaders in your community about pageants that offer scholarships or business internships, as opposed to cash prizes, if you are entering the Latina beauty pageant to broaden your opportunities in the community.

Choose a Latina beauty pageant that requires entrants to represent certain types of Hispanic culture, or specific countries. For instance, some pageants may be looking for Miss Cuba or Miss Guatemala, while others may actually require the different nationalities to compete with each other for a more general title.

Find a sponsor to help you through the beauty pageant process. Often this is a local business that will help you finance the costs of the pageant, such as entry fees and appropriate clothing for the competition. Many local businesses may be quite eager to sponsor you, since it is usually an opportunity to develop business relations through the pageant and to receive advertising as well.

Contact the officials of the beauty pageant in order to get a copy of all rules and regulations concerning the competition. You should also receive all information about entry fees and requirements, and anything else you will need to know about the history, traditions and objectives of the pageant.

Log on to the website of Miss Latina Worldwide Pageants to find out how local pageants and preliminary competitions can lead to national competitions such as Miss Latin America, Miss Latin U.S. and Miss Teen Latin U.S. (see Resources below). These competitions are usually televised and offer a wide range of opportunities for all of the contestants.
