Every year, millions of fans watch hours of college basketball to prepare for the big end-of-the-year tournament and their favorite NCAA March Madness pools. Some people don't keep up with all of the teams and need a quick way to catch up on who's hot and who's not before the tournament. You can use NCAA March Madness message boards to follow the latest developments before the tournament begins.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Visit the websites of well-known sports organizations such as ESPN, Sports Illustrated and FOX Sports (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Create a new user account for the sites you visit by creating a name and password. An email address is usually required to start a new account.

  3. Step 3

Learn to navigate the links and conversations to follow the flow of information on various message boards. Start with a general name for conversation, such as "General Discussion," or "SCC Teams" or "Who's Hot and Why."

  4. Step 4

Scroll down through the various topics being discussed on the message board to find what you are looking for as it pertains to the tournament.

  5. Step 5

Look at the date and time at the top of the first comment on the message board to find out whether you are reading the messages in the order they were written or the latest message first. Reading conversations backwards can be confusing, so scroll down to the beginning of the conversation.

  6. Step 6

Read through the messages and pay special attention to which users leave messages that make sense for the March Madness tournament. You need to find writers you can trust to get accurate help on the tournament.

  7. Step 7

Leave your own message on an established topic by clicking the "Reply" button or create your own topic by clicking a "New Topic" button.

Tips & Warnings
  • Save yourself some junk mail by creating a new email account on a popular free email server to use as you create new accounts on message boards.
  • Follow some of the advice by sports writers who have a good track record of picking winners in games throughout the year.
  • Use the search feature on many message boards to quickly find conversation lines or messages with topics that interest you.
  • Don't believe everything you read on message boards. You will find good advice from lots of people but you don't know who is an expert and who is an 11-year-old having fun.
