How to Treat a Spring Formal Date

A spring formal dance can be a wonderful evening when you bring a date. The two of you can dance the night away together and get to know each other. To ensure that your formal date has the best time, think about how you will treat her before the event.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Ask her to the formal nicely. From the start, you should be respectful and kind to her. If she declines your date, respond by saying you're sorry to hear it but hope to see her there.

  2. Step 2

Consult your date when it comes to your tux and corsage choices. If you ask her about these details, it will appear as though you want her to have the best night possible.

  3. Step 3

Be on time. Arrive at her house to pick her up before the formal at the time you promised. Don't forget her corsage!

  4. Step 4

Treat her to dinner if you can afford it before the formal. Ask her beforehand what restaurants she likes. Before you sit down to dinner, be sure to pull the chair out for her.

  5. Step 5

Ask her to dance. Most dates just assume they will be dancing with their date all night, so it's a nice surprise when you ask your date if she will dance with you.

  6. Step 6

Take her home on time. Respecting your date's curfew will give you bonus points with her parents and give her the rest of the night to think about how much fun she had with you.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're attending the spring formal in a group with your date, make a point to sit next to your date and have private conversations with her when possible. Don't be afraid to split off from the group sometimes to treat your date to a slow dance or to pick up a cup of punch for her.
  • Win bonus points by bringing your date's mother some flowers when you pick your date up for the spring formal.
  • Don't dance with other girls if your date isn't dancing with other guys. Sometimes couples who have been dating for a while are okay with dancing with other friends, but both people in an actual date should be each other's main dance partners.
  • Don't stick your date with a pin when putting on her corsage! If you're too nervous or uncoordinated, buy a wrislet corsage instead.
