Cotton powder puffs are soft and fluffy. They're often used to apply loose powder, body shimmer or talcum powder. Powder puffs are the tool of choice when it comes to applying loose powder, especially if you're covering a larger area.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Mirror
  • Disposable replacement puffs

Step1
Apply foundation as usual, and then use a small, cotton powder puff dipped in loose powder to set it for all-day coverage. Make sure to use a short, dabbing motion for a light dusting effect. Shake out the remaining product and use empty puff to even out powder.
Step2
Use a cotton powder puff to set concealer and hide blemishes and scars. Apply concealer and then dust a small amount of powder over the top. Dab lightly at the area to make sure excess powder is removed.
Step3
Remove excess oil from the t-zone area (the nose, chin and forehead) using a specially formulated powder. Touch up oily spots throughout the day with a thin cotton powder puff. Powder absorbs oil much better than liquid foundation. If you use the puff that comes with your makeup compact, make sure to replace it after a month or so. Take your compact with you when you shop for replacement puffs, and make sure they fit inside.
Step4
Buy disposable puffs for travel and everyday use. You'll find them in packs of three or more. Store them in a clean, plastic bag so the new ones are fresh and free of hair, dust and loose powder.
Step5
Take a hot shower and towel dry. Use a large, cotton powder puff to apply talcum powder. Look for a talcum powder from your favorite perfume designer, or go for a light scent if you tend to have a sensitive nose.
Step6
Dip a powder puff in shimmering body powder and dust lightly all over. If you're feeling adventurous, you can highlight you cleavage by dusting shimmering powder underneath a low-cut blouse.
Step7
Apply powder on the go with a puff on a stick. Powder is stored inside the handle and is released when you apply pressure. Make sure to keep it in a clean, dry area in your purse or overnight bag. Look for stick puffs filled with shimmering powder for day into night use, or foundation powder for daily touch-ups. Be sure to bring along a compact mirror.

Tips & Warnings

  • Replace disposable puffs at least once a month. If you can see dirt or you smell a funny odor, toss out the puff immediately.
