1
Purchase a hair lightening gel or kit at your local drugstore or beauty supply shop. These gels are available in different intensities and some are meant for different types of hair, so read the product descriptions carefully before you buy.
-
2
Follow the directions of the hair lightening gel carefully. In general, these gels are simply brushed over the hair that is to be lightened and left on for a period of minutes, and then washed away with lukewarm water.

3
Apply a pre-mixed hair lightening gel directly from the tube. There is no mixing and no mess. Leave it on your hair and after only a few minutes, the hair will be much less noticeable.
-
4
Use a cream bleach gel kit to lighten hair on your face, arms, legs or eyebrows. Simply blend the powder and cream included in the kit, apply it to the hair you want to lighten, leave on for 10 minutes and rinse. Your dark hair will be virtually invisible and your skin will be left smooth.
-
5
Apply the gel above your lip to disguise your mustache if you are female. Note that on dark skin, your bleached mustache might be just as noticeable as the dark hair.
-
6
Use the gel on your forearms and legs to lighten unsightly hair.
-
7
Use hair lightening gel on your eyebrows when you lighten the hair on your head. Using the same hair bleach on your eyebrows that you do on your hair is dangerous and also tends to look fake. A body hair gel will lighten your eyebrows gently and leave you with a more natural-looking color.

Tips & Warnings
If bleaching your hair with a gel lightener does not work, you can always try waxing or shaving the hair. It might seem like a nuisance, but for some people it is better to remove the hair than to try to hide it with bleach.
Some hair lightening gels can irritate the skin--particularly if you have sensitive or fair skin. Always do a patch test on a discreet area--such as the inside of the arm--before you proceed.
