Things You'll Need:
- Fabric dye (optional)
- Fresh flowers
-
Step 1
Add to the fresh colors of the spring garden by choosing an outfit that is lively with bright colors and soft lines. Floppy-brimmed hats are ideal for garden parties, but you can get away with a big hat with a stiff brim if you tuck a bloom into the hatband.
-
Step 2
Tie a scarf around a narrow brimmed or tailored hat if wide-brimmed hats just aren't your style. The longer the scarf, the better, as the two trailing ends will add a lively flourish to your outfit.
-
Step 3
Upgrade an old hat to garden party status by pinning a bouquet of four or five flowers--leaves removed--to the front edge of the hat's brim. Pin them slightly off center, so that the flowers perch just over one eye. The boldly placed flowers will attract all the attention, and you can get away with a plain cotton or straw cap.
-
Step 1
Wear flowers at a garden party to augment the natural spring show of color and life happening around you. Tuck a bloom or two into the band of any hat. Also, a small posy peeping out of a corner of your handbag will only add charm to your outfit.
-
Step 2
Choose a hat in a fabric that will let your head breathe. You don't want to wear heavy hats when you are out in a sunny garden. Remember, comfort is key, so choose loose weaves, raffia, straw and lightweight fabrics.
-
Step 3
Dye a white or beige hat with a bright fabric dye before embellishing it with ribbons, creating a new spring hat from an old standard. The more creative you can be, the more fit for a garden party your hat will appear.
