How to Visit the Columbus Museum of Art

The Columbus Museum of Art, in Columbus Ohio, is located on the eastern edge of downtown. The core of the facility, opened in 1931, is a diverse collection of European and American art through the early Modern period. The museum augments that collection with a modern photography exhibit and various temporary shows.

1. Purchase tickets. Tickets to the Columbus Museum of Art are available at the museum's ticket desk. Discounts are offered for seniors and students. Children five years and younger are admitted free. Admission is free to all on Sundays. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Thursdays until 8:30 p.m.
2. View the permanent collection. The permanent collection at the Columbus Museum of Art focuses primarily on European and American art through the Modern era. Highlights include works by Edward Hopper, Norman Rockwell and a large number of paintings by Columbus native, George Bellows.
3. Explore a temporary exhibit. The Columbus Museum of Art augments their permanent collection with a regular schedule of temporary exhibits. Recent shows include "In Monet's Garden," a look at paintings by the Impressionist master as well as modern paintings inspired by Monet's garden at Giverny, and "Aristocratic Children in European Portraiture," a look at the formal paintings of 17th and 18th century Europe's young princes and princesses.
4. Dine in the museum's cafe. The museum's Palette Cafe serves lunch and afternoon snacks daily Tuesday through Sunday. The menu includes a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches and hot entrees. In the summer, diners can take their food out into the museum's center courtyard.
