How to Wax Nose Hairs

Using wax to remove nose hairs is fairly uncommon, since many people achieve better results from electric nose hair trimmers and tweezers. In addition, using wax to remove nose hairs may be dangerous, since the skin inside the nose is very sensitive to heat. Still, ordinary hair removal techniques may stimulate further nose hair growth, so waxing may be a viable option.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Hair removal wax
  • Cotton swabs
  • Washcloth
  • Microwave oven or saucepan full of hot water
  • Aloe vera or vitamin E lotion

Step1
Purchase some heated hair removal wax and cotton swabs to treat your nose hairs. This type of wax can usually be found in beauty supply stores, or in the cosmetics section of a drug store or supermarket.
Step2
Clean the inside of your nostrils by wrapping a warm, wet washcloth around your index finger, and gently inserting it into your nose. Dirt will prevent the wax from adhering as well to the hair in your nose.
Step3
Warm the wax in your microwave oven, or by placing the wax container in a saucepan full of hot water. Avoid letting the wax become too hot, or it can burn the sensitive skin inside of your nostrils.
Step4
Dip the cotton swab into the warm, softened wax. You may want to find a larger type of swab, such as the ones used by doctors, in order to cover more area quickly. Just know that the more nose hair you remove at one time, the more painful it will be.
Step5
Insert the waxed swab into your nose. Do not insert the cotton swab too far into your nose, which may cause pain and damage to your sinuses and mucous membranes. You should insert the swab less than one inch, depending upon the size of your nose.
Step6
Allow the wax to cool inside of your nose, leaving the cotton swab in place. This should take just a minute or two, depending upon the temperature of the wax when you inserted it in your nose.
Step7
Pull the cotton swab from your nostril in a quick, abrupt fashion. You should be able to see the hairs stuck on the end of the swab.
Step8
Repeat this process until all your nose hair is removed.
Step9
Apply some aloe vera or vitamin E lotion to another washcloth and wipe the inside of your nostrils to sooth the pain and irritation.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try to breath through your mouth when you use wax to remove your nose hair. A sudden, inhaling snort may cause hot wax to lodge inside your sinus cavities, causing extreme pain and discomfort, not to mention a trip to the emergency room.
