How to Have a Hand Peel
Nothing shows your age quite as much as your hands do. Your hands and your face are the areas of your body that are exposed to the most sun damage, because even when you are fully clothed, these areas are usually uncovered. Consequently, hands can develop wrinkles and hyperpigmentation in the form of age spots. Hands can be restored to their youthful appearance through hand rejuvenation. One form of hand rejuvenation is the hand peel. In the same way chemical peels rejuvenate the face, a hand peel removes the top layers of the skin and stimulates growth of new, healthy-looking skin. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Determine the level of treatment you require. If your hands are only moderately affected, you can apply a series of superficial peels at home and see good results over time. For moderate to severe skin issues, however, you need a medium or deep peel performed by a doctor.
-
2
Consult with a doctor who has experience working with chemical peels. Cosmetic surgeons and dermatologists are the primary users of chemical peels. Your doctor can suggest the best type of peel and appropriate depth of peel for your condition.

-
3
Discuss your medical history and how your skin heals. People who have problems with wounds healing, are prone to keloids, have active diseases or are prone to complications from anesthesia may not be good candidates for medium to deep chemical peels.
-
4
Choose an anesthesia option. Deep peels require at least IV sedation, and some people get general anesthesia.
-
5
Have the peel applied. Your doctor will determine how long the peel should stay on the skin, depending on how deep the peel will go. If you have a medium peel done without sedation, you will probably feel a burning sensation in the skin.
-
6
Apply a cooling mask or cream to calm your skin down after the peel is removed. Depending on the type of peel you use, it may have the required neutralization.
-
7
Avoid sun exposure for at least a week after the peel and wear sunblock everyday after that. The sun is what damages the hands so badly, and sun exposure can cause serious, and sometimes irreversible, complications after a peel.

Tips & Warnings
If you're getting other cosmetic surgeries done, you might as well have a hand peel at the same time. Even if your face looks younger, your hands might give away your age.
Never pull at skin that cracks or flakes after a peel. Removing this skin prematurely can cause scarring.
