Creating a successful baseball team requires patient and talented coaches and personnel managers. Many teams rely too heavily on a couple of power hitters, a reliable ace pitcher and an overpowering bullpen to rack up the wins. Ideally, you will build a winning team with interchangeable players who can play in a variety of situations.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Reliable coaches
  • Workout facilities
  • Trainers and physical therapists
  • Corporate sponsors
  • Cutting-edge equipment
  1. Step 1

Hire a reliable coaching staff for your baseball team to establish a winning tradition. Your manager needs a pitching coach, a hitting instructor and a bullpen coach to oversee all aspects of play throughout the season.

  2. Step 2

Develop your minor league system to build a winning attitude within your organization. You should review the waiver wires and trades by other teams to determine the availability of young talent during the season. Your minor league managers can give you a window into the development of your young players.

  3. Step 3

Invest your team's money in a workout facility that will keep your players healthy throughout the season. Indoor batting stations, video monitoring systems and weight machines enable your players to prepare physically before the season starts.

  4. Step 4

Search for a trainer with experience in professional baseball to help players rehabilitate after injuries. Your trainer and medical assistants can keep hot players on the diamond during a winning streak.

  5. Step 5

Diversify your team's promotional and marketing schedule each season to bring in higher numbers of fans. Work with local companies to sponsor "bobble head nights" and other giveaways to decrease your promotional costs. Your players will respond to the cheers and excitement of a sold-out stadium with a higher level of effort.

  6. Step 6

Shop for the latest baseball equipment for your team to build on past successes. Lightweight bats, flexible catching equipment and other innovations in baseball allow your players to exhibit their talent each game.

  7. Step 7

Keep your catchers fresh by creating a platoon of two to three players behind the plate. Consider the pitcher's comfort with a particular catcher, as well as the catcher's ability against left- or right-handed pitching.

Tips & Warnings
  • Monitor the pitch count of your starters to avoid worn arms over a long baseball season. The ideal pitch counts depend on a pitcher's past injuries, throwing style and the state of your bullpen. To keep the player healthy, you should probably limit a starting pitcher to 85 to 90 pitches each game.
