How to Attend Spring Training Practice
Spring training marks the beginning of the baseball season, when all of the teams head to their spring headquarters to get ready for opening day. Spring training takes place in Florida and Arizona, and the teams in each region participate in their own "leagues." The Grapefruit League plays out of Florida, and the Cactus League is in Arizona. Fans can attend spring training practice to see their favorite stars get ready for the upcoming season.

Plan a Spring Training Trip
-
1
Buy tickets in advance. Even though it's only spring training, major league teams play spring training games in small stadiums or fields, and tickets are known to sell out quickly at times. This is especially true when two very popular teams meet up. Find schedules at the SpringTrainingTips website (see Resources below).
-
2
Stick around once the game has ended. Most players will stay at the conclusion of a game to keep batting or pitching for a while. This is a great opportunity to, if permitted by the park, ask for autographs or just say hi to the players.

3
Attend a spring training session with a group so as to cut the overall cost of accommodations and transportation. With a group of four, five or more, you can easily rent a house or condo instead of separate hotel rooms.
-
4
Attend team workouts prior to practice. While not a game, you can see how the players prepare for the coming season. Best of all, these practice sessions are almost always free to the public, and workouts usually occur prior to games so you can kill two birds with one stone.

Keep a schedule handy whenever you plan to see spring training practice. You can usually find schedules at the park, or you can find information on your favorite team's website. Just remember that the schedule can change as a result of weather and other factors.

Tips & Warnings
Always account for the weather when you plan to attend a spring training game. While the weather in Arizona is fairly uniform, Florida's springs are notorious for intense, localized rainfall and thunderstorms, which will always rain out spring training.
Choose to attend day games played during the week. Day games are almost always less crowded than night and weekend games, and they're usually a little less expensive too.
Wear sunscreen whether you're attending games in the Grapefruit or Cactus leagues. Even the springtime, the sun can be powerful and lead to burns in a short time.
