How to Make an NCAA Proposition or Exotic Bet

NCAA football consistently provides spectators with some of the most intense action and surprising gameplay you'll find anywhere. Some teams enter games heavy favorites only to find themselves stunned by the underdog. That's one of the reasons people choose to make an exotic or proposition bet on a game: you can still win money on a game even if the team you felt was going to win doesn't.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Head to an online betting website like BetUS.com and create an account (see Resources below). BetUS.com is a good example of a website offering diverse proposition or exotic bets, and you can make all of your bets from home.
Step2
Choose the game or games you are interested in making your bets on. They are usually listed in alphabetical order by visiting team. Clicking on the match-up will create a drop-down list with all of your betting options.
Step3
Click on the "Proposition Bets" tab to bring up a list of all of the current prop bets for the game. This list is usually fairly extensive, with options like "What will the first play be?" or "Which team will cross the 50-yard line first."
Step4
Click on the proposition bet you wish to make. This will bring up a more detailed look at the bet itself, as well as a set of options for placing your bet. Simply click on the team you think will satisfy the conditions of the bet in order to make your choice.
Step5
Confirm your bet by pressing the "Confirm" button. This will send you to the payment screen so that you can place your wager and lock in your bet. You will receive email confirmation of your bet, as well as a printable receipt that you can keep for your records.

Tips & Warnings

  • Read the statistics of players and see what exotic bets are being offered for a particular game. If the proposition bet is related to a player who consistently scores two touchdowns a game from receptions, then that might be a good bet. If it's something more of a long shot, then think carefully before risking your money.
  • Only make exotic bets when you really know the game and the match-ups of the players. Making exotic bets doesn't cost as much up front, but it's almost always throwaway money, especially in tight games where it could go either way.
