How to Make Fried Stewed Squash

A different take on stewed squash, this traditional favorite is a classic. If you've never tried it, you don't know what you're missing! Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • ingredients in step one
  • stove
  1. Step 1

    Gather the following ingredients: 8-10 young, yellow crookneck squash; 5-6 green onions, chopped; ½ cup butter; and salt and pepper.

  2. Step 2

    Wash the squash, and cut the stems and bottoms off. Slice them into thin slices.

  3. Step 3

    In a skillet, brown the green onions in the butter. Then, add the squash plus pepper and salt to taste. Cook the squash over medium heat until brown and mushy--usually 30 minutes.

  4. Step 4

    Stir occasionally.
