Talk to Your Child About Bullies.

  1. Step 1

Talk to your child about bullies before there is a problem. Let them know they can talk to you about it and that you will help.

  2. Step 2

If a problem arises, ask questions to get your child talking.

  3. Step 3

Ask your child how they want it handled. Offer your assistance, but don't push. Some children can handle bullies on their own.

  4. Step 4

If the problem becomes excessive, step in. Contact the child's teacher first and give him or her an opportunity to correct the problem. If this does not work, go to the principle.

Tips & Warnings
  • Every child has the right to an education without bullying. Watch for changes in your child's behavior to detect issues they might not be telling you about.
