For a delicious and a quick meal your whole family can enjoy, make a Spam burger.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 can of Spam
  • 4 burger buns
  • 2 big tomatoes
  • Ketchup
  • Ground black pepper
  • Slices of cheese
  • Lettuce
  • Griddle
  • Mayonnaise
  • Mustard
  • Olive oil (optional)
  1. Step 1

Open a can of Spam and make seveal slices about 2-centimeters thick.

  2. Step 2

    Heat the griddle.

  3. Step 3

Cook Spam slices on the griddle until crunchy. No need to add oil due to the natural oil content of Spam. Add a bit of olive oil to taste if you prefer it oily.

  4. Step 4

Heat or toast the hamburger buns on the griddle.

  5. Step 5

Put cooked spam in the bun. Add a couple of round slices of tomatoes, cheese and lettuce. Put on condiments, like black pepper, mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can add grilled onions and mushrooms if desired.
  • Some people prefer deep frying Spam slices; if you prefer to fry make sure not to use oil with trans fat.

on 3/30/2008 This sounds real tasty, but I would not eat it too often as it can make your cholesterol soar. I knew an individual, thin as a beanpole, who used to bring spam sandwiches to work. When they checked his cholesterol it was over 400! He was shocked and couldn't understand why this happened to him!
Maybe the low or no-fat versions as Fave-Five mentions could be a better choice.

Angel, now you see why your dad didn't want it in the house in those days.

on 12/4/2007 I have actually never eaten Spam. My Daddy told my Mamma not to ever bring it into his house. And she didn't. But you make it sound good... crispy ..hmmmm
