How to Make Your Hair Strong, Soft, And Shiny

Is your hair dry, brittle and fly away? Too much blow drying, perming, curling or other abuse? Try this easy, cheap, natural, homemade deep conditioner. It works better than lots of more expensive ones.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a good quality mayonnaise
  • a bath towel
  • some hot water
  1. Step 1

Wash your hair to remove the dirt, oils, and any grooming products that have accumulated since your last shampoo

  2. Step 2

Rinse your hair well with hot water. This will open the cuticle or outside layer of the hair and allow it to absorb the conditioner

  3. Step 3

Rub mayonnaise into your hair and scalp. Use a good quality mayonnaise containing eggs and vegetable oil. Go ahead and glop it on. You want your hair to absorb as much as possible.

  4. Step 4

Take your bath towel and wet it in hot water.

  5. Step 5

Wring out the water until the towel is not dripping, but still steamy.

  6. Step 6

Wrap the hot, steamy bath towel around your hair. The heat will help the conditioner to penetrate the hair shaft.

  7. Step 7

As the towel cools, reheat it in hot water and repeat steps 4-6 for at least 30 minutes.

  8. Step 8

Alternately, you can heat the wet towel in the microwave to heat it, but be careful not to burn yourself with the steam from the towel.

  9. Step 9

Shampoo the mayonnaise out of your hair.

  10. Step 10

Rinse your hair with cool water. This will close the cuticle and seal the conditioner into the hair shaft.

  11. Step 11

Dry your hair and style as desired. Your hair will be strong, soft and shiny.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may need to shampoo your hair twice to remove the conditioner. I always shampoo my hair twice anyway.
  • Be very careful not to burn yourself with the hot towel.
  • Do not try to comb or brush your hair until it is dry. It will be more elastic than usual when wet and could stretch and break.
