“Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.” (Mark 14:38) Life is full of distractions in which many are important or good things to do…children need to be cared for, work needs to be done, telephone calls occur. It seems never-ending. Many of us are very busy, and many times, very tired. Praying seems to be another item on the list to do. Here’s some ways to overcome the temptation to pass on prayer and be refreshed by God’s Spirit.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Bible

Step1
Remember that God knows all about our lives, and our hearts, and desires to give us refreshment. God’s kind of refreshment will quench the deep thirst in your soul. As His children, God’s love, peace and joy fulfills our needs more than anything else in the world. We each have needs in our life that perhaps aren’t being fulfilled by others around us. God is able to be all things for us. He will fill those empty spots with His wondrous love.
Step2
How do we get this refreshment? It takes a decision by us. The world does not want us to be refreshed. In fact, the world pulls us away from God’s refreshment by distracting us from prayer. Prayer, along with reading God’s Word, are the only ways to become intimate with God and receive His true and everlasting refreshment. Drink deep of the truths that God has for you. Your thirst will be quenched and it is everlasting. The well will never run dry “but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." John 4:14
Step3
Find a spot today to meet with God, the One who loves you completely. He desires your time and has wonderful gifts to give you. Open your heart, mind and soul to receive these gifts made especially for you.
Step4
During your time together, tell God how much you love Him. Listen and read in the Bible how much He loves you. Tell God how sorry you are for mistakes you’ve made. He is forgiving. Tell God the concerns you carry, for He wants to lighten your load. Finally, let God take over, for there is nothing impossible for Him. Enjoy your time together!
