A well organized camper is a happy camper. Start planning for a week=long camping trip at least a week before your departure date.

From Quick Guide: Camping Guide
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make a list of lists. Make one entitled "Gear" one for "Food/Groceries" and one for "Transportation and other". Also, if splitting expenses, be sure to create a financial log sheet so everyone can keep track of how much they have spent. Keep all your receipts!

  2. Step 2

First, the gear list. What will you need that you don't have? Consider weather conditions and terrain in your destination. Buy anything you need and stage (set up) all your gear you will bring for the trip at least two days before departure to ensure that all zippers zip and all buttons fasten as they should and also that you have all the tent stakes, sunscreen, and cooking equipment you will need.

  3. Step 3

Next, the food/groceries list. Plan your meals and snacks for each day. Total up how much of each item you will need and go grocery shopping. Come home, separate the food into days and do any prep that is necessary.

  4. Step 4

The transportation list. How will you get where you are going? Who will pick you up at the end of your trip? Include other important questions. Who will know where you are? Who will acquire necessary permits?
