Not many people will like to sort through their mail and find they have a jury summons. It can take hours to find out if you are going to serve on a trial and during that time you can get restless or bored. If this is your very first time becoming a potential juror, here are some steps to fill the time waiting while you wait to be called.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Bring your favorite magazine--sports, fashion, entertainment.
Step2
If you are sitting in a big assembly room, there will be plenty of people around and maybe a couple of folks sitting not too far from you. Strike up a small conversation with someone--about the weather or how may times they'd been called to jury duty. You might just gain a new friend.
Step3
Bring a laptop with you--it is acceptable in most courthouses. You can check your mail, play a game or catch up on some work.
Step4
There is an vending machine available in the room so make sure to bring some money with you.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your letter states the time you suppose to arrive, make sure you be on time. Leave your house an hour early if you depending on how far you're away from the courthouse.
  • If you hate the thought of serving as a juror, cross your fingers and hope you will not get called on. When you first enter the room you will randomly select a juror number to hold on to--it might be different depending on what state you're from. If your number haven't been called for at least three to five hours, consider yourself lucky as there is a less chance that you will not be in jury duty!

on 12/7/2007 Great tips for the dreaded call to duty. I might also suggest bringing extra money for parking which is an arm and a leg and your first born here in the Midwest.
