Looking for a more laid back approach to the holiday party? Then, give a holiday open house a try. Here's what you need to know to make your event a success.
Choose a date and time for your open house. Since people will be dropping in at their leisure, open houses generally run for several hours.
Step2
Then, send out invitations to announce your plans. Be sure to specify that you're hosting an open house--and not a party--so that people will understand they're not obligated to stay the entire time.
Step3
The day of the party, tidy up your home; and add a few decorative touches--fresh flowers, garland, Christmas lights--whatever seems appropriate.
Step4
Ensure the bathroom is well stocked with toilet paper and hand soap.
Step5
Finish by setting out light hors d'oeuvres and drinks, along with all of the necessary party supplies--cups, glasses, plates and napkins, Then, wait for your guests to show up. It's show time!
Tips & Warnings
Be sure your walkway is clear of any ice or debris.
Set out extra chairs for guests, if you have some available.
