How to Throw a Tree-Trimming Party

1. Send out invitations to announce your tree trimming party. If guests need to bring anything (food or drinks, for example), be sure to mention it in the card.

2. Then, visit a tree farm to pick out your tree (if you want a live tree), or visit a store if you'll be using an artificial tree and don't already own one.

3. Pick a room for your tree, and set it up before the party.

4. On the day of the party, bring out all of your Christmas tree decorations--ornaments, garland, lights, ribbon, a tree topper--and place them close to the tree.

5. Finish by putting out munchies for the guests--finger foods and drinks should be more than adequate for a tree-trimming party. If you have space in the room where you'll be decorating the tree, set the food up in there. This will allow guests to snack while they work.

• Be sure to have plenty of Christmas hooks on hand.
• To make the tree extra special, ask each guest to bring a homemade ornament.
