From the moment you find out you are pregnant, it is hard to resist talking to your tummy. You imagine that the details of your pregnancy will always be fresh in your mind. That is, until you meet the reality of sleeplessness and a needy baby. Keeping a pregnancy journal can serve to foster the future memories of your little darling and to remind yourself of the happiness you felt before his or her arrival. Read on to learn more.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • note cards
  • envelopes
  • pencil or pen
  • special box or trunk
  1. Step 1

Choose the trunk or special decorative box you will save with care. This will be the keepsake of your child that you will someday give to them to cherish. Make sure it is big enough to hold the notecards you have chosen but not too big so as to be in the way.

  2. Step 2

Write your unborn child a letter a week describing what is happening with the pregnancy, how you feel, and all you imagine is going on inside you. If you have picked a name, use the name as you would in a normal letter. Make sure to date the letters.

  3. Step 3

Make sure you make note of your daily schedule and what it is like before baby's arrival. Then you can look back afterward and see how much your daily routines have really changed.

  4. Step 4

You can use these letters as a scrapbook piece by including sonogram pictures, notes from the doctor, and cards from baby showers. Another great idea is to get a newspaper from the day your baby is born so that later they can learn what was going on in the world on that day.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't be afraid to note how you are feeling, even when the feelings are not pleasant. This is also part of the journal of your baby coming into the world. Later when they are bringing home your grandchildren, they will remember that even the greatest joys in life sometimes cause pain or discomfort.
  • Discuss anything eventful that goes on. For example, when I was three months pregnant I found a snake in our house. The only reason that animal control showed up that night after hours was because I was pregnant. I made sure the baby journal let my son know he is my hero for just being there to save me from the snake.
