Things You’ll Need:

  • A whole day to set aside for this project
  • A place to send your donations to
  • Some boxes to sort things out
  • A marker to write on the boxes
  • Some help if you need it (Makes the donations & fulfillment bigger as well as the accomplishment)
  • Transportation to drop off your donations, unless you make other arrangements for items to be picked up

Step1
First, start going through your closet to see if there are any clothes that don’t fit you or that you might not see yourself wearing anymore & toss it into your box.
Step2
Next, go through your closets, storage, basement, etc & look for items that you haven’t used in a long time (holiday decorations, household items, toys, anything that would be useful to others) & put them in a separate box.
Step3
Now you can go to your kitchen & look in the cabinets & pantry & choose any non-perishable items that you have extra of, maybe it’s something you thought you would use but didn’t, or even if it’s something that you or your Family is tired of eating (canned fruits & vegetables, dry pancake mix, bottled items, cake mix, salsa’s, ravioli, etc.)
Step4
Another thing you can donate is magazines, books, activities for children such as coloring books, crayons, activity books. Maybe you bought an extra bottle of shampoo or just something you bought that you can do without.
Step5
Now it’s time to label your boxes (clothes, canned foods, household items, toiletries, etc.)
Step6
Load boxes into your car & take them to your designated place.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be generous & give from your heart. If you can do without it, then allow someone else to enjoy it.
  • Call your family & friends & let them know what you are planning to do & ask if they have any items they would like to donate.
  • You can even make a flyer & post it up in the Post Office, local store, etc so that others can join.
  • Make sure clothes have been washed & are decent for others.
  • This is something you can do every time you do your summer or winter cleaning.
  • Set aside a hamper for clothes that you can easily toss into so that is saves you the time of looking through a lot of stuff.
  • Don’t give things that have special meaning, unless it’s something that you are giving from your heart that you would like to share with someone else.
  • Don’t give something that is broken or unusable.
  • Make sure to check the expiration date on food items
