Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cat
  1. Step 1

First, observe the cat's eyes and nose. Is there any discharge? If the discharge is greenish in color, take your pet to the vet immediately.

  2. Step 2

Listen to your cat. Is she sneezing or having trouble breathing? Some sneezing could be due to allergies, but if it's frequent, you should take your cat to the vet.

  3. Step 3

Keep an eye out for coughing. Even with colds, cats shouldn't cough. Take your cat to the vet immediately if you catch her coughing.

  4. Step 4

Watch your pet's food and water bowls. Is she eating and drinking? If she's not eating, it could be a sign of nasal congestion. If this is the case, take your cat to the vet.

  5. Step 5

Be aware of your pet's bathroom habits. If she's constipated or going outside the litter box, it could be a sign of a URI.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your cat is congested, try giving her a steam bath. To do this, bring her into the bathroom, shut the doors, run the shower as hot as it can go and let the room fill up with steam.
  • Take your pet to the vet immediately if you suspect she has a URI.
