Things You'll Need:
- Newspaper
- Access to the internet
-
Step 1
Volunteer. Work with the Red Cross or an animal shelter, or for any cause you feel passionate about. This is a good way to get out of the house and meeting people who care about the same things you do.
-
Step 2
Take a class. The community colleges in Iowa offer cheap classes that range from cooking Indian food to yoga. Find something you've always wanted to do and sign-up. Also, your local chamber of commerce sends a mailing out with classes offered by the city, these are usually cheap and a great way to meet people.
-
Step 3
Read. Your local library or bookstore has a reading group, I guarantee it. Call and ask. It's a great way to meet people who are thinkers and passionate about reading.
-
Step 4
Go to church. While church may not be your cup of tea, it is a great way to meet people and most churches have a late service around 11:15am on Sundays. So get up and go.
-
Step 5
Sign up for emails from the city. Most cities in Iowa have local listserves that you can be a part of. These will send you information about bar crawls, local festivals, and community events where you can meet people and have a good time.
