Avoid an Unlucky New Year
Avoid an Unlucky New Year

There are many superstitions involving the coming of the New Year; so if you are the superstitious type, watch out for these!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Superstition
  1. Step 1

Make sure that on New Year's Eve, your pockets have some money in them and your cupboards have food. Empty pockets and an empty cupboard on New Year's Eve will bring a year of poverty.

  2. Step 2

Dancing around a tree outside on New Year's Day will bring you a year full of luck and a healthy year.

  3. Step 3

Make as much noise as possible at midnight to scare away any evil spirits that may be lurking around you.

  4. Step 4

Do not break anything on New Year's day or your will have a year full of broken promises and hearts.

  5. Step 5

Do not remove anything from your home on New Year's day, do not even take out the trash. The good luck of the year could be spirited away with any items you remove.

  6. Step 6

Wear something new on New Year's Day to bring lots of new clothes your way in the new year.

  7. Step 7

Be the one to drink the last swig of champagne from the bottle and you will be gifted with a lucky new year.

on 1/4/2008 This is great ... I read it too late, unfortunately! I resolve to re-read it next year and put it to good use.
