So you know that someone on your nice list wants to add to their DVD collection, but you don't know what movie they really want. It's no fun asking them what they want. Plus, you want to throw a little of your self in the gift as well. Read on to find out how to find the best one to buy.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 20 Dollars
  • A decent DVD Store
  • Patience

Step1
Do not make a list of possible titles before you go shopping. If you do, chances are you'll find one of the titles on your list and settle for it, missing your chance to get the perfect one that might be one rack away.
Step2
Don't be afraid to go to one of those big DVD stores. We'd all like to support the small places, but when you're unsure about which dvd to get, it's best to have as many options at your disposal as possible. Go to the smaller ones when shopping for yourself.
Step3
Think of what you have in common with this person. Any events, inside jokes, time periods, or style that you share or have shared with this person could be represented in the right DVD. For example, your best friends and you played baseball together when you were young. Therefore, The Sandlot would be a great choice.
Step4
Always start with new releases. Yes, they are more expensive but there's a better chance that the person will not already have it and the quality will be as best as it can be. If nothing pops out at you, choose the best option, remember it, and move on. In every section you pass through choose one best option. That way, by the time you are done you'll have narrowed it down and will be able to easily find the titles.
Step5
Once you have narrowed it down, it's possible you'll still have several good options. One good way to weed out some of the options is the special features. DVD's with special features are fun, and make the gift something that will be brought off the shelf more often. So weed out the DVD's with limited features.
Step6
Never spend more than 20 bucks on a DVD unless it's big collection or if it's just so perfect you can't not get it. DVD's go down in price very quickly, and you can find discounted DVD's all over. There are a ton of movies out there, and you should be able to find something really good for under 20.
Step7
When you give it to the person, try to suggest watching it together, especially if you managed to find something that has some personal value for the two of you. The time watching it together, is just as much a part of the gift as the DVD itself.
