Step1

Before the physical reprimand of the pinch collar, give the dog a verbal command. If this doesn't work, the pinch collar can be utilized.

Step2

Pinch collar should not be tight on the dog's neck. Make sure that the pinch collar is not too tight. As with any collar, you should be able to fit two fingers in between the dog's neck and the collar.

Step3

The trick of the pinch collar is a quick jerk and release. Holding it taut will cause pain to the dog. Think of the collar as the dog's mother giving her pup a quick nip to get his attention away from what it shouldn't be doing.

Once the dog falls in line with what you asked, praise it.

A PINCH COLLAR MUST BE USED PROPERLY SO AS NOT TO HURT YOUR PET!
When the pinch collar is placed on your dog, there should be enough room for you to comfortably slide two fingers in between the collar and the dog's neck.
