1. Shop around online.
   The best thing to do is to shop online and get a feel for the what you are buying. Most of the time, you will find a better deal online. (ebay, amazon, bizrate are a few good ones)

2. The earlier you shop, the better deals you get. In the begining of December, retailers are trying to get buyers out, so they will offer great pre-Christmas sales. Also, a few days before Christmas, you can also find (what has been picked over) great last minute sales where stores will try to get rid of their last items.

3. Shop after Christmas. Depending on who you are buying for, the best time to buy is after Christmas. Not recommended on that special someone or a person you live with, but if you have some out of town friends, this could work.
