Do you know what twig furniture is? Read on to find out how it could help augment the appearance of a rustic home.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Twig rockers are primarily made from the willow plant. The shoots are cut and formed into a twig rocker. The twig rocker is an ideal rocker because of its natural resistance to bugs and insects.

  2. Step 2

With a twig rocker, you can add a country charm to your patio or garden. The twig rocker is an amalgamated process. It contains natural woods and natural wood twigs, which should retain some of its outer bark to give it the rustic look. The seat should be made of solid wood that is supported by columns of twig front legs. Additional twigs are laced to form the foundation of the rocker. After completion, a twig rocker is ready to be used repeatedly.

  3. Step 3

The twig rockers are decorative, too. It will add the country look to your backyard, patio or garden. If you apply a clear coat of varnish to retain its natural color, it would blend well anywhere it is put. The ambiance reflects what type of twig furniture you place in your backyard. The twig rocker makes a wonderful addition because of its decorative appeal and its functionality. Either you can admire the twig rocker, or you can swing in it. Most people prefer to do both.

  4. Step 4

The twig rocker has an alluring appeal. It makes you think of another time when life was as hectic today, and more so. While we complain about modern day life and all that it entails, we should do some soul searching. The days of old were harsh and uncompromising. The advent of making furniture, or buying furniture, was not readily available. Even it were, most people of those days would not be able to afford it. Daily life was rough. With the extra timber from cut trees and branches from plants, furniture making was a necessity. When the twig rocker was built, it was not for decorative purposes like today. It was made because it served a purpose. After an arduous day of farming or cattle rustling, people liked to sit on their porch, chew tobacco, or smoke a pipe and relax.

  5. Step 5

That scenario is a lot different version that what transpires today. However, the basic ingredient is the same. A busy lifestyle warrants relaxation after the day is through. What better way than to sit on your porch and swing on a twig rocker?
