Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Computer
- Windows XP or Vista
Step1
Click "Start". If "My Computer" is already a shortcut for you skip to step 4.
Step2
Go to "Programs" or "All Programs" depending on your view.
Step3
Then go to "Accessories" and click "Windows Explorer"
Step4
From there Right click "My computer" and then Left Click "Properties"
Step5
Then click the "Advanced" tab and then the "Settings" button under Performance.
Step6
From there click on "Adjust for best performance" and then click "Ok"
Step7
It will look something like this image I have for this step when you are through. It will look a little more plain, but it will improve your PC performance.

on 5/27/2008 Sorry, but this didn't work on my Vista laptop. I could only go as far as "Windows Explorer" and then I could find nothing even remotely like "My Computer", just kept going to "Documents". I am not happy with Vista :(

on 5/18/2008 Although, I like Vista to a certain extent, it is slower than XP and other OS's. I use xp, Vista, and Linux. Vista is slower, and your fix will improve it though; say goodbye to the eyecandy.

on 4/2/2008 I can't stand how slow Vista is. If this works, it will have been one of the most simple solutions. Thanks!
