Keep Nice Candles

Some decorative candles are just too lovely to burn out, but people don't know how to keep their beautiful candles longer. It really is simple to "burn" a beautiful candle and not lose it to melting.

From Quick Guide: Candle Accents
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A beautiful candle
  • Matches or a lighter
  • A tea candle
  1. Step 1

Light your candle and let it burn for a little while. You want the flame to create a hole about the size of a quarter, and about half an inch deep.

  2. Step 2

Blow out the candle and carve out the hole if your candle is burning too narrowly or if it burns wide but not deep.

  3. Step 3

Place a tea candle in the burned out hole. If you need to, carve the hole out more so that the tea candle is hidden.

  4. Step 4

Light the tea candle to give the image that your candle is burning. When the tea candle burns out, you can simply replace it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add scented or colored tea candles for effect.
  • Place a dish under your candle to catch any dripping wax, just in case.
  • Do not ever leave a burning candle unattended!
  • This article works for pillar style candles, but not for tapers.
