Step 1
Spend some time with the family member. This is especially important if that person is conscious and fully aware of what is going on. You’ll want to talk to that person and see him before his death.
-
Step 2
Spend time with other family members as well. This will help the grieving process and will give you a chance to reflect on the life of the passing family member.
-
Step 3
Spend some time alone to grieve. It’s important to give yourself some alone time when you’ve learned that a family member is going to die. This can help you to come to terms with that person’s death.
-
Step 4
Talk to a member of the clergy. This can help you set aside any fears you may have about the oncoming death of a family member. Doing this can also help you make peace with the situation.
-
Step 5
Talk to the family member about any last requests he may have. It’s easy to get wrapped up in your own sorrow in a situation like this. You can’t forget that your family member is going to have some wishes of his own before his death.
-
Step 6
Don’t forget to say goodbye to your family member. This will be the most difficult step to take. If you don’t do this, however, the decision will be one that you regret for quite sometime.
