Waitressing can be hard, but getting a job as a waitress can be easy. You just have to know what to say and how to get the restaurant experience if you don't already have it.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A resume or application
  • Experience as a waitress, if possible

Step1
Call all of your local restaurants to find out if they are hiring.
Step2
If you have experience serving, apply at any restaurant that is hiring servers.
Step3
Denny's If you do not have serving experience, but have relevant experience (like some kind of management), then try applying at a place like Denny's, which hires less experienced servers.
Step4
Smile a lot during your interview. Mention skills like multitasking, a good memory, and being a fast learner.
Step5
Repeat until you are hired! Congratulations, now you just have to survive training!

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have no experience, get a job as a hostess and work your way up.
  • Denny's hires with little to no experience, and is a good starting place.
  • Dress casual for the interview, but modestly as well. A suit is overdressed, but you should not be baring any more skin than the waitresses in uniform do.
  • Do not lie about your experience, or you could get in way over your head.
