Step 1
Buy protective boots for your horse's legs. Polo wraps are not sufficient in protecting his legs when running and turning hard around barrels. Protective boots should be used on all four legs and should cover the ankle to just below the knee.
-
Step 2
Choose a saddle pad that fits your horse's back. Using a saddle pad that is too thin or too thick can hurt your horse's back. Saddle pads are available in a variety of different materials.
-
Step 3
Use a girth that does not chafe your horse's underside. Girths can pinch and rub your horse, causing him to seemingly act out because of the pain.
-
Step 4
The right bit is needed for runnnig barrels. Using a bit that is too light may result in your horse running off, while using a bit that is too harsh can cause pain to your horse.
