How to Make Paper Beads

Paper beads are fun and inexpensive to make. They can be made from magazines, decorative papers, grocery or lunch bags, wallpaper scraps and much more.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Paper
• Multi-purpose glue
• Plastic paint brushes
• Paper plates
• Water
• Clear nail polish
• Scissors
• Paper towels

How to Make Paper Beads

1. Cut paper into strips, choosing the length and width that you desire.

2. Brush a small amount of glue onto one end of your paper strip. Roll paper onto the paint brush handle, at least one inch from tip. Continue rolling and gluing until you reach the other end of paper strip.

3. Gently remove bead and allow to dry for at least 30 minutes.

4. Return beads to paint brush tips and apply 2 coats of clear nail polish, allowing the first coat to dry completely.

5. Repeat Step 4 on inside of beads.

Tips & Warnings

• Whatever length and width you cut your strip of paper influences the size of your bead.
• To create different bead styles, taper one end of the paper and decorate with markers or felt tipped pens.
• If the beads are rolled too tightly, their centers will come out when you try to remove them from the paint brushes.
• To keep your brush from hardening during and after use, rinse in warm water and dry on a paper towel.
