Need a vacation? Is it fall or winter? Want to try a different experience? This is one of my favorite vacation ideas. I used to beg my parents to take me to the ocean during the fall season. Why? Going to the ocean for a long weekend during the fall is cheaper. At most hotels, you can save up to $100. Follow these steps to plan your trip so that on the day you leave, you are stress-free!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Your first step is decide on a long weekend to go to the Pacific Ocean; this works well if you live close to the Pacific Ocean. Off-season is usually from September to June. Pick the city or town you want to visit when you go to the ocean. If you live in Washington, I suggest Westport.
Step2
Once you pick the city/town you want to visit, start searching for hotels. Don't just pick one, but pick a few. Call around and ask about rates.
Step3
Once you pick the hotel that you want, call or go online and make reservations for you and your loved ones.
Step4
About a week before you leave for your long weekend, do some research on places to eat and shop in the city you are going. This way, when you are there, you don't have to figure out where the good places to eat are. Especially if you have kids, you can make sure they are kid-friendly.
Step5
The day before you leave, pack your bags with only the things you will need. The more you pack, the more you have to be aware of. Print out directions to your hotel, and enjoy your trip!

Tips & Warnings

  • Most hotels will have their rates online. You can get a better rate by using the hotel website, then calling.
