How to Make Homemade Sloppy Joe

Sloppy Joe is great for sandwiches or even dinner. It's easy to make and excellent for people with a busy schedule or if you feel like having a simple meal.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 12 inch frying pan
  • 2 lbs of ground beef/ground chuck
  • 3/4 cup of light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp of mild yellow mustard
  • 21/2 cups of ketchup
  • 1-2 tsp of Worcestershire Sauce (to taste)
  • 1/4 cup of dehydrated onions (soak in water for 5 minutes before using)
  • 1 tsp of garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper(to taste)
  • 2 bay leaves
  1. Step 1

    Brown the beef in the 12 inch pan. Stir occasionally and crumble beef. Drain beef for 3 minutes and replace them in the pan.

  2. Step 2

    Add garlic powder, onions, Worcestershire, salt, pepper and stir.

  3. Step 3

    Add ketchup, mustard, brown sugar and stir.

  4. Step 4

    Add bay leaves and stir thoroughly.

  5. Step 5

    Cook on high heat until boil. Cover. Simmer for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your mixture is too thick you can add 1/4 cup of water.
  • Do not use tomato sauce or paste, they are too acidic.
  • Do not use garlic salt.
