This will take some of you back. For others, it is a creative introduction to one of the longest running series on television. The hard part of this will be gathering the supplies.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Several long folding tables (depends on how much room you have)
  • White sheets, one for each table and others to hang in doorways
  • Older medical and military items for decorations
  • A few bedpans
  • A few pails (1 to 2 gallons)
  • Several emesis basins (plastic ones work just fine)
  • Plastic martini glasses
  • Your favorite beverages (alcoholic or non-alcoholic)
  • A case or a few 2 liters of a yellowish soft-drink
  • A few chocolate covered peanut candy bars
  • Salty snacks like chips, pretzels and nuts
Step1
Begin decorating by setting up the folding tables and covering each one with a sheet. Tack the remaining sheets up to cover the doorways or entrances into the party room. Place any miscellaneous medical or military items wherever you think best.
Step2
Pour some of the yellowish soft drink into each of the bedpans (make sure the bedpans, pails and emesis basins have been cleaned and sterilized). Then place one of the candy bars into each of the bedpans also. Place at least one bedpan on each table, as the centerpiece ideally.
Step3
Fill the emesis basins with the salty snacks and place a few on each table. Any other finger foods served can be served in these basins also.
Step4
Use the pails to hold any drink mixtures (hairy buffalo or a powdered, non-alcoholic mix). This works best if the mixture is red. Guests can pour from the pail or use a ladle.

Tips & Warnings

  • Shop for decorations at a military surplus store and a medical supply store or borrow from friends in the medical profession.
  • Strongly encourage guests to wear medical scrubs or military-type fatigues.
  • Have fun, but monitor your guests if alcohol is served. Remember, "friends don't let friends drive drunk."
