Most depressed people enter REM sleep rapidly. When that occurs, the person may be having more intensive dreams, which is usually associated with depression. There is a connection between sleep and the storage of memory. If the link of the chain is broken by having insomnia, could depression be the result? The fundamental linkage amid depression and insomnia is compelling. Theories abound as to why.

There is evidence to suggest that insomnia can cause depression. Depression is an aliment that can be treated. So can insomnia. Which one should be treated first? And does it really matter? If insomnia is one of the core reasons for depression, then attention should be addressed in that venue. There are a plethora of reasons why people suffer from depression and insomnia. The cures are usually diet related and medically connected. By medical, it could be psychological in nature or a chemical imbalance in the brain. Both diet and medicine could become necessary if you are suffering from bouts of insomnia and/or depression. While they may be considered bedfellows, it is best to treat one symptom in order for the other to dissipate.

It becomes lucid when insomnia is treated that an affinity exists. Moreover, the linkage between insomnia and depression may prove that a good night sleep is vital to thwart the onset of both. The lack of a good night sleep may affect your mood. If treatment for insomnia is sought, there is strong evidence to indicate that depression episodes would fail to materialize. That is not to say that after one night of restful sleep all of your melancholy will just disappear. It should be a prolonged affair. In other words, it will not happen overnight. It takes a protracted amount of treatment from your health care professional to diagnosis the aliment, ascertain that it is indeed insomnia and/or depression, and take a suitable course of action.

The important thing to note is to take some sort of action. You should not let the condition hamper your response to it. Take a proactive stand and seek help. Life was meant to be enjoyed and not feel like you are in a weakened position to do anything. Insomnia and depression are serious so you should take a staid approach to them.
