Step1
First and foremost do not be afraid of the screaming, potty machine. It is more afraid of you than you are of it...
- Do not show fear...LOL It will then throw up on your shoulder in
response.
Step2
Soothing your baby can be as easy as 1,2,3 and so on.
- Keep in mind one thing may work today and an hour from now is not going
to make a difference in how they react.
1. Always check for dirty diaper
2. Always check with the back of hand for hot temp on baby. ( Use
thermometer if you feel the need) You will know when your baby
is too warm trust me.
3. Try to apply formula when the baby is crying if a pacifier or finger
is not working.
Step3
To soothe a full, clean and reasonably cool/warm baby try these ideas.
- Patting softly in a simple, gentle rhythm on the bottom while holding
them in some babies be very soothing. (My daughter would only accept
it from me when she was a baby)
- While lying your baby on your shoulder their face near your neck and
sing, hum gently. (it don't matter if you sound like a wounded duck.
as long as its gentle and soft.)
Step4
When giving a baby a bath use the baby bath seat in a sink or tub.
- Don't be afraid to get the baby wet and use the thermostat for this or
the plastic/rubber duckie with the temperature color changing bottom
to prevent burning your baby. Their skin is more sensitive to warm
water than you may be.
- The nighttime bath smelling stuff, Lilac I think it is great. Babies
love the naturally soothing scents.
- Do not use too many blankets or you will be getting up over and over.
- Learn to swaddle newborns they love to be wrapped tight, don't worry
when they work an arm out. My twins would never stay completely in
the swaddle when put in it anyway.
Step5
Take a deep breath, love them and enjoy the early years.
