Studies show that over 80% of women are in the wrong size bra. Giving birth, weight changes, gravity, and just growing up make finding and sticking to a single size of bra a difficult and uncomfortable task. Following the steps below will equip you with the information you need to find the correct bra size for you.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fabric measuring tape
  1. Step 1

Take your measuring tape and measure around the trunk of your body underneath the breast. Make sure your hands are hanging down straight.

  2. Step 2

Now measure under your arms and just above the breast. (In a horizontal line -- unlike photo!) If there is less than 2 inches in difference between these numbers you can go with the measurement taken in Step 1 as the actual bra size. If the measurement you go with is an odd number round up to next even number.

  3. Step 3

Then measure directly over the largest portion of the breast. Take this measurement and subtract Step 1s measurement from it. If your measurement in Step 1 was 36 and your measurement from Step 3 was 38.5 your difference will be 2.5 inches.

  4. Step 4

Use this information to determine cup size:
    ½ an inch = AA,
    1 inch = A,
    2 inches = B,
    3 inches = C,
    4 inches = D,
    5 inches = DD or E,
    6 inches = F, and
    7 inches = G.

on 12/11/2008 I agree with the previous 2 comments, the adding 4 inches makes no sense. This method actually gives me the correct size!

on 12/17/2007 I know what you're talking about. There are several different ways to measure out there, but this one works for me and my girls. Misty

on 12/17/2007 This article was very helpful. Thank you
Other articles have parts like “when you have measured your band size add 4 inches "??
What’s up with that
I don’t get how that makes the measurement write??
