Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer access
Step1
Go to www.freecycle.org--Their mission is to build a worldwide gifting movement that reduces waste, saves precious resources & eases the burden on our landfills while enabling our members to benefit from the strength of a larger community."
Step2
Find a local group--put your city in the search engine.
Step3
Start browsing the site. Try to start by giving something away. I have given a treadmill, a teacher's desks, books,window hangings--anything that still has value
Step4
Next, keep an eye out for something you like When you find something, email the giver. They are not obligated to give you their item, but you will soon learn, this is a generous community.

Tips & Warnings

  • This is a great idea and is available in most large communities. We even have a suburban freecycle group because our metro area is so large.
