Christmas is the time of giving. But let's say you live in New York City and you're a bit short on money this season but yet you still want to play Santa. Well, don't worry--there are stores that you can head to in the Big Apple that won't break your bank and might even impress the most snobby recipient. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Christmas list

Step1
Head to Chinatown, in the heart of lower Manhattan. Here you will find everything from sunglasses to cheap knock off Dior pocketbooks, sure to impress the most snobby fashion plate.
Step2
Go to the Library Store across the street from the New York Public Library on 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue. Not only will you find books, they sell everything from clothing to jewelry (and the prices aren't bad either).
Step3
Check out Duane Reade drug stores. They're on almost every block in Manhattan and around Christmas time they sell inexpensive perfume sets, nail polish sets and candies that make great stocking stuffers.
Step4
If you're really, really short on funds there's always the 99 cent stores. They're spread out all over Manhattan (check the Resource section below) and the items here may not be the most glamorous but they are cheap!

Tips & Warnings

  • Before you make your purchases, find out what the return policies are. Some vendors (especially in Chinatown) do not make refunds.
